BLACKSMYTH IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT JERRY BRANDT (BLACK HILLS BAND) IS NOW A MEMBER OF THE BAND.
JERRY LAST FRONTED THE GREAT "BLACK HILLS BAND" IN THE READING AREA.
NOT A LOT OF SINGERS CAN BELT OUT A COUNTRY TUNE LIKE JERRY CAN!
BLACKSMYTH HAS ALWAYS BEEN A FAN OF THE "BLACK HILLS BAND" AND ARE PROUD TO HAVE JERRY AS OUR NEWEST MEMEBER.

ALTHOUGH, IT WILL BE A SHORT CD USED MAINLY FOR DEMO USE - IT WILL BE A TASTE OF WHAT WILL COME IN THE NEAR FUTURE--POSSIBLY A FULL LENGTH CD WHICH WILL INCLUDE SOME ORIGIONAL MUSIC.

"BLACKSMYTH / STEEL CANYON" REUNION SHOW - AN AMAZING NIGHT OF GREAT MUSIC & FRIENDS!
If you missed the "Blacksmyth/ Steel Canyon " reunion show at the E.C.U.S Club in Hazleton on March 11th-you missed a whole lot!
The 7 piece band featured:
Joe Chuckra on guitar and vocals (Steel Canyon , Fall Guys , Whiskey Run )
Armand Nuss on keyboards and vocals (Steel Canyon , Mudflaps , Whiskey Run , Pale Rider )
Dave Beratta on Steel Guitar, Fiddle (Blacksmyth , The Amigos , Midnight Rodeo, X-Country)
And......Bill , George , Bruce and Melvis - Blacksmyth's present members!
The band offered up some old Steel Canyon country classics , as well as some great Classic rock classics!
The Doors , Eagles , Styx , Beatles , Billy Joel , Allman Brothers were just a few of the rock classics offered up that evening ,
as well astunes by Lonestar , Big & Rich , Hank Jr. , Kenny Chesney , Dierks Bentely , Toby Keith and many other Country artists!
It was a perfect evening of music!
The drinks were flowing , the people were dancing and all was well in Hazleton!

Bill once fronted "SECTION 8" - An excellent , popular rock band that featured our own lead vocalist Bill (AKA - Billy , Billy Bob , Muth , Willie , Willymuth , Wild Willie )
A powerful singer - Bill has never worked as a lead vocalist for a country band in the past, and his amazing versatility always shines through!
Many of you remember "Steel Canyon" - This band performed for 10 years and featured a few different versions. Steel Canyon members went on to form "BLACKSMYTH" ( forged from steel - get it?!!) Mel and former keyboard player Armand Nuss enjoyin' a tune !
Do you remember"Whiskey Run" ? - A project formed by drummer Al Whitner, Whiskey Run was very popular in the 90's. When "Whiskey" folded George Long , John Moyle and Joe Chucra added drummer Bruce Steigerwalt, and keyboardist Armand Nuss to form the original "Steel Canyon"
The early days of "Blacksmyth" featured fiddle player and vocalist Tony Merker and steel guitarist Dave Baretta . Both Tony and Dave left Blacksmyth to persue other projects.
Dave went on as a member of the very popular "X Country" and Tony is quite successful as a solo artist. Tony also fronts the areas newest country band "Outlaw Mountain"!
Before "Steel Canyon" --there was "Pale Rider" - an extremely popular country rock band that featured the talents of Blacksmyth's bassist George Long and keyboardist Armand Nuss. Pale Rider also featured drummer Trevor Miller , guitarist and vocalist Bill Cake , Lead Vocalist Susie Jones , and lead guitarist Charlie Fick.
Ok - you can see this picture is old --right? Back in the 70's - Glenn Matusick (pictured) and Blacksmyth bassist George Long teamed up to form "Essence", a well remembered rock band that packed houses throughout the region!
Glenn now resides in Texas and still continues to perform!
"High Cotton" was a band that George (right) belonged to in Austin Texas.
The band featured Glenn Matusick on lead guitar, Chester Rickhet on drums (left), Jay Simms on vocals , and the late great Pat O' Neil (center) on lead guitar.
Pat was an extraordinary musician , who could brighten your darkest of days.
He is sorely missed.

Former Steel Canyon drummer Robbie Bollman , now lives in Canada! Still, Robbie occasionally will make his way back to the good 'ol US of A and sit in a couple of tunes!
